A recent study has found that an online tool may help people accurately screen themselves for depression. Chinese researchers asked 579 people to take the Internet-based Self-Assessment Program for Depression online. When psychiatrists followed up on the assessments made by the program, they found the online tool's assessments of depression correct for 75 percent of the patients.
