Implanted device approved for obsessive-compulsive disorder

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new implanted device for the treatment of severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Medtronic Inc's Reclaim DBS Therapy device uses a small electrical generator to block abnormal nerve signals to the brain. It is battery powered and is implanted near the abdomen or collar bone and is connected to electrodes implanted in the brain.
