38 companies now involved in peanut butter recall

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 200 peanut butter and peanut paste products from at least 38 companies have been recalled so far in an ongoing salmonella outbreak. Officials say at least 491 people have been sickened by contaminated peanut butter products, and there have now been seven deaths attributed to salmonella poisoning. Recalled products range from cookie dough to nutrition bars to dog biscuits, officials say. However, several companies--including Girl Scouts, Hersey's, and Kraft Foods--report their food is safe to eat.  Read full story >
