'Mindfulness' training may reduce stress

People in a new study who were taught "mindfulness" techniques such a yoga poses, breathing exercises, meditation, and stretches were able to reduce their stress levels more than those who were not taught the techniques. Mindfulness training involves developing techniques that help people focus on the present moment, allowing them to identify sources of stress and how these sources are affecting them. In the study, researchers found that those who practiced these techniques experienced less psychological distress and fewer medical symptoms of stress than those who did not.
