Unemployment, underemployment boost mental health risk

Results from a recent poll suggest that unemployed Americans are four times more likely than those with jobs to report symptoms of major depression and other severe mental illnesses. The survey also found that people who who had jobs where they were forced to accept work changes--such as reduced hours or pay cuts--were twice as likely to have such symptoms. Experts say the new national survey shows that the recession is having a major impact on the mental health of Americans.  Read full story >
