Israeli researchers are looking for a way to identify certain biological markers that will help predict how a person will respond to antidepressants. Investigators have found that the most popular antidepressants are effective in only about 60 percent of patients who take them. A test to discover why this is the case would move patients from the current "trial and error" approach to medications to a more personalized--and effective--regimen, the researchers say.
