Low-fat diet may improve mood: study

A recent study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine has found that though both a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet and a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet can help people lose weight, only the low-fat diet can help people improve their moods. Scientists theorize that more carbs increase serotonin concentrations in the brain, whereas added fat and protein reduce these concentrations. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter involved in the regulation of mood.
