Insecure teens more prone to headaches, depression

According to a Canadian study, teenagers who are insecure are more likely to suffer from chronic headaches, joint pain, and depression than their secure peers. The study found that insecurity in teens led them to be more "alarmist" about their level of pain--a factor that researchers believe could increase depression. Experts say studies like this suggest that teens and children should be treated for chronic pain differently than adults, since a psychological factor may play a greater role in their symptoms.
