Brain Scans Let Scientists 'See' PTSD

University of Minnesota researchers say they have discovered a way to read patterns of magnetic fields created by brain cells in people who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This disorder is triggered by trauma, and it is characterized by such symptoms as uncontrollable rage and flashbacks to traumatic events. Now scientists say they have found a way to track the condition on brain scans, a method that may be able to detect PTSD in patients early enough that doctors could begin treatment before patients' symptoms appear.  Read full story >
