Brain Changes in Multiple Sclerosis May Trigger Depression

According to a new study, depression in people who have multiple sclerosis (MS) may be due to biological--and not psychological--reasons. Researchers found that MS patients are more likely to have brain shrinkage in an area of the brain that is involved with memory and mood issues than people in the general population. Also, the glandular systems that respond to stress and other psychological processes are likely overactive in MS patients, which also boosts these patients' depression risk.  Read full story >
