Regulations Eased on Veterans' Claims for PTSD

Veterans will no longer be required to provide documentation for specific incidents such as firefights or bomb blasts when they apply for compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), The New York Times is reporting. Under the new rules, veterans of all wars are eligible to receive compensation if they can prove they served in a war zone in a role consistent with the events they say caused their condition. A psychiatrist or psychologist who works for the Department of Veterans Affairs will then have the final say on whether the veteran's case is valid, a provision that some veterans' advocates worry may sharply limit approvals for PTSD-related compensation.  Read full story >
