Link Between Depression, Cholesterol Different for Men and Women

A new study in the journal Biological Psychology has found that gender-specific regulation of cholesterol levels in the elderly may help prevent depression in these patients. The French researchers found that depression in women was linked to low levels of good cholesterol, while depression in men was associated with low levels of bad cholesterol. The scientists say these findings suggest that regulating good and bad cholesterol levels according to gender could help ease depression in the elderly.
