Study Adds to Evidence that Mouse Virus Linked to Chronic Fatigue

A new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has added to existing evidence that a mouse virus may play a role in chronic fatigue syndrome. In a study of chronic fatigue patients in New England, scientists found that the murine leukemia virus (MLV)-related virus was present in the blood of 32 of 37 of the patients, compared to only three of 44 control patients. But the scientists say they are not sure how the virus is transmitted, nor do they know why some people can have the MLV-related virus in their blood and yet not fall ill.  Read full story >
