Are you looking for support in learning how to care for a loved one with a mental illness? NAMI's Family to Family Education Program may be the answer to getting your family the help you need. This free 12-week course, designed for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses, is taught by trained family members and offered at no cost to participants. You can find classes in hundreds of communities across the country, two Canadian provinces, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The Family-to-Family curriculum focuses on schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (manic depression), clinical depression, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Youll learn about the clinical treatment of these illnesses and pick up the knowledge and skills that family members of mental illness patients need to cope more effectively.
