Great advise. When small glucometers first came out, I was doing a lot of bicycle riding and thought that finally I would know just what my BS was during a long ride. I NEVER had trouble with blood sugar on rides because I just ate, pretty much what I wanted to when I wanted. Anyway with the new smaller glucometer I could check it when I stopped to eat. But most of these rides where in the summer and though I never had trouble with test strips, I did have a problem waiting for the pump to cool off and reach its' operating temperature. More than once I stopped at a country store and walked in with my meter and stuck it in their freezer and waited until it cooled off(me too) for use.
