So my speech at the JDRF breakfast went pretty well I think :) I was proud of it anyways and I got a lot of compliments and several people who said that I was really honest and raw about what it's like to live with the disease which to me is about the highest compliment that I could have gotten so YAY! haha ;)
I have also been making a really concious effort to exercise everyday. I want to be more fit & healthy (and looking great in a swimsuit is just an added bonus! haha). So I have been jogging/walking 4 miles everyday in addition to riding my horse & all the stable work that I have to do everyday.
Also, I changed the "local" of my infusion set today a little bit (I use the minimed Sure-T incase anyone is wondering). I hate when I wear a higher waisted skirt or jeans and it rubs on the waistband and irritates it so I moved it up a good 3 inches higher on my back then I usually put it and I think that it will help. It didnt hurt any worse going in (though I was a little worried about maybe running into a kidney or something lmao). And I think it will also help with the absorbsion to have it somewhere that's not so scarred up from years of use. I really, really, really HATE having it on my stomach at all so I am just going to not use that place ever again lol. The end.
Thanks for reading all that!
Katie

KATIE! That's awesome!!! Good for you for being so blunt and straight-forward about diabetes. Sometimes it's hard to do that, but it'll always be appreciated in the end.
If you have a written copy of your speech, I know we'd all love to read it! You should post it!
And way to go on focusing on health and exercise! Nothing has impacted my diabetes more positively than exericse. It can do incredible things for you when you really make it a consistent part of your life! And even just walking burns plenty of calories, so if you don't feel like running sometimes, don't worry about it! Walking is great.
