If your A1C is 7.3, then you're good to go. The operation itself last ten minutes at most, so controlling your blood sugar during is easy. But yes, you definitely want to have your BGs in tight control that day and the days following as best you can because out of whack blood sugars will hinder the healing process.
Huge fluctuations and poor control in diabetes will lead to severe glaucoma and cataracts, etc. but with an A1C of 7.3, you shouldn't worry about that. People with A1Cs around 9 and 10 and 11 are definitely at risk.
To prepare, check your BG a lot more than usual the day of your surgery and check as often as you can afterwards. The best thing for recovery from lasik is to sleep sleep sleep and rest your eyes. The first day is really irritating, but within 24 hours you'll forget you ever wore glasses!
