My name is stephanie and I am 16. I am a new diabetic, I was diagnosed on aug 25, 2008 and i am dependent on isolin. It's a hard fact that gets scary but I am learning how to deal with it and trying to continue my normal life! I love to act and swim and plan on doing those this fall and winter. I am trying to learn as much as I can about diabetes and anybody who wants to give me information I am open ears! I hope to get really involved with marches and programs so anyone who has information on anything like that also please let me know. Although I am new to this I open to anybody who may want to talk, we are in this togther =)

Hi Steph,

Well, while I wouldn't wish diabetes upon anyone, I'm going to welcome you to the club anyways! It sounds to me like you already have an awesome attitude about this really huge change in your life. The biggest part to living with diabetes happily, I think, is not about how perfect your blood sugars are but about how you view your diabetes as a positive challenge instead of something that's always in the way. Keep swimming, keep acting! You can do it all, you just will have to learn how to adjust certain things (your insulin, your nutrition) in order to do it all healthfully. But it's all entirely possible!

What was your diagnosis like? When I was diagnosed, at age 13, the first thing I asked my doctor was if I was going to die. I had no idea what diabetes was! Clueless!

Hey, this diabetes thing isn't really that bad, just look at it as an oppurtunity then a burden, lots of supprort groups, and really cool clubs open up when you get diagnosed, if your really active and wanna join a club, just let me know, i know a few of them, get back to me when you can.

a new friend,
