Recently I've been forgetting to check my BS as often as I should be, or taking my insulin. Well, I haven't really been forgetting, I'm just being lazy. In all honesty, I think about taking my insulin, and checking my BS (I'm on a pump), but then I'm like, "nah, I don't really want to" or something like that? It's not like I'm purposefully trying to hurt myself, I'm just purposefully forgetting. If that makes any sense...anyway, some suggestions for a) remembering to test and take insulin, or b) some way to motivate myself to do it...

Hi there!
Welcome to diabeteens
I, too, get in ruts where I can think of a million things to do other than check my BG. So I think I totally understand where you're coming from! It's easy to make a conscious decision not to check BG--and from your profile, it sounds like you're super busy!
I have a couple of suggestions:
a- Keep a blood sugar log. Depending on how often you skip taking insulin or BG readings, writing down your readings and meal boluses in a log like this one adds a little healthy guilt and responsibility to be vigilant.
b- Keep a schedule. For me, I obsessively check my blood sugar before I get out of bed, in the bathroom on the way to my first class, and at other times. In this way, my day just doesn't feel right if I skip checking or bolusing. In addition, you can make the times you check and bolus most convenient for you so that there's little excuse not to check/bolus.
c- When you're considering not checking or bolusing, think of how good it feels to do so. There's a lot of relief and satisfaction that comes with doing something you know you have to do. It's like getting your homework done (except a leeettle more important
): you do it when it's due, or you have a missing assignment hanging over your head, and know that some points will be taken off of your grade.
I hope this has helped! I hope you'll post back and let us know how you're doing, and if you have any more questions.
