Possible Diabetic + Birth Control

By TeenyRich Sunday, April 12, 2009

Hello I am seventeen and i took only a urine test to get my birth control but then dr tells me my sugar was high

(122)

& it should be 105-110

I ate hot cheetos 20 min before test. Could i really be diabetic?

if so any birth controls pills available

Hi,

A blood sugar of 122 does not imply you have diabetes. A person with diabetes would have a blood sugar reading more like over 300 if they hadn't been diagnosed yet! And if you had just eaten cheetos, it makes perfect sense you were up around 120 because it takes about 15 minutes for carbs to be digested and start raising our blood sugar.

As far as your question on birth control pills...that wouldn't help your blood sugar. The two are not really connected.

Does this make sense? So your doctor should've prescribed a regular birth control method for you?
