Liberty Medical?

By Jonny C Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Is there a difference between "diabetus" as spoken about on the Liberty Medical commercials I see, and the diabetes that your site speaks about?

Thanks!

Hi Jonny C.

Funny yet justified question! Gotta love that accent--Wilford Brimley, the nice old fella with Type 2 who pronounces diabetes as "dia--bee-tuss" was born in Salt Lake City. Maybe that has sometime to do with it...although you'd think that by now he'd just want to say it the way everyone else does.

Did you know he was an actor back in the day? In quite a few movies with some pretty famous celebs like Tom Cruise and he was Cocoon! I think he was also in a StarWars spin-off about Ewoks way back in the day.

And he before being an actor, he was a rancher, wrangler and blacksmith.

Frankly, I think he enjoys pronouncing it funny because it adds to his old but wise persona and certainly draws more attention to his silly mustache.

Thanks for posting, Jonny C.

Ginger
