I have decided that I need to loose weight as I feel I have become insulin insensitive.I have also decided I will be doing this slowly and healthily.I understand there is a relationship between large amounts of insulin and weight gain.So if I reduce my carbs and therfore my insulin and do exercise to furher reduce my insulin needs will I loose weight? Also if I was having a snack what is better an apple or lean protien as the apple would require more insulin....will I have to reduce my fruit intake to loose weight?Im sorry about all the questions I am just so confused.Perhaps everything I am saying is wrong!xxx

Okay, you are exactly right that if you reduce your carbs, you'll reduce your insulin needs and therefore gradually reduce bodyweight. And yes, lean protein for a snack is going to help more than an apple because an apple is fructose (sugar) and it will not keep you full for very long. An apple with protein would be a better bet, but you'd include that apple as part of your carb intake for the day.

If you were to try keeping a food journal for several days and posting it online for us, we could really help you fine tune and understand what you're doing correctly and what still needs improvement! I keep a food journal on a regular basis anyway just so I can stay aware of what I'm consuming because if I don't eat enough it will effect my training.

Before bed:

You prob wont believe me but I feel quite hungry on this!!!Please tell me if ther is something I could be doing better I want to do the best for my health!!xxxxxx
I DO believe you're quite hungry on this! There are A LOT of carbs on here and not much healthy fats and limited protein....
For instance, your breakfast is a lot of carbs and only a little fats/proteins. What if you skipped the weetabix and added a half cup of eggwhites to your 2 eggs?
Instead of just an apple after your workout, how about an apple and a protein shake?
For lunch: NIX the bread cmpletely, eat your tuna with nuts like almonds and cashews, and then lots of veggies.
If you're hungry before dinner: low-fat cottage cheese and veggies
Dinner time: chicken, turkey, lean beef, sweet potatoes or fruit and lots of veggies!
Before bed: nuts, carrot sticks
If you lower the carbs in your diet, you have to replace it with healthy fats...your body WILL convert fats and proteins to glucose for fuel for your brain if you lower your carbs - but be patient.
What do you think?
Thanks so much!!I will try this tomorrow!I shall let you all know how I am getting on!!xxxxxxxxxxxx
