Insulin pumps are everywhere it seems. In fact most diabetics I know already have or are in the process of getting an insulin pump. I think that insulin pumps are a great tool for some. They can help keep blood glucose levels in tighter control and it’s nice to not have to take multiple shot...

I am kinda in the same position you are in. FOr a long time my blood sugars were under great control i would say for the first of 4 years after my diagnoses my A1c were around 6-8 and my weight was stable.. but then i started showing signs of type 2 diabetes and was wanned off of insulin and put on oral medication and once again for a while that seemed to work. BUt now I am back to having issues with keeping my blood sugars under good control and we don't know why or what is going on. In the past we had talked about possibly going onto the insulin pump to help with the control but the fear was that i wouldn't be able to adjust to the pump at the time so we just tried adjusting my insulin regimn which was taking lantus which seemed to work and advandia which also seemed to work.. but recently in january right after the new year I had a 8 hour observation done and we decided to stop the lantus and to add humalin to my current regiment of also taking humolog when i was eating.
Well I just recently met with my endocrinologist and we found out that for some reason that isn't working as well as we had hoped... my A1c was a stounding 12.2 which is the 2nd highest it has ever been since diagnoses of 16(blood sugar was 1000 at the time) .
I have recently moved back home also been working out and have lost over 25 pounds going from bout 198 to 170 give or take a few pounds depending on the scale you are weighing me on.
Well my doctor and I have restarted talks about going onto the insulin pump in order to try and get my numbers under better control. My question to you is how has the pump helped you when you were younger? and if you did decide to go back onto the pump why would you be doing it? and what kind of pumps are you looking at and what are the specific requirements that i should be looking at in the pumps.
sorry for all the questions but all the help and advise are greatly welcomed.
thank you and good luck with your diabetic control as well.
