When my blood sugar drops I am usually able to detect it immediatly and treat before it gets too low. On rare occasions I do need help though. My mom is there when my numbers drop during the middle of the night. When I'm dancing or doing any kind of physical activity my symptoms allow me to realize whats happening right away and I can sit and treat. In the summer I love to swim, and when I go low in the pool it's harder for me to detect when my blood sugar is low. I remember once I almost passed out because I didn't feel the symptoms as fast as I usually do. My eyes were rolling in my head and my mom was constantly talking to me, trying to keep me awake. My close friends and family members can tell when I'm low and try to help me in any way they can. Usually I can handle bringing my blood sugar back up on my own, but when it gets too bad it's good to have some other support. Some people don't like to broadcast their diabetes, but I think it's better to have as many people know about it as possible. It can help you if you are having any kind of reaction, high or low, and can also help them realize what obsticles we go through every day. The bigger your support system the better in my opinion! :) It takes more courage and strength to ask for help then it does to do it alone.
