Driving a vehicle is a hard thing to do when you have no health issues to worry about; and with diabetes everything is more complicated. Having diabetes shouldn't be a reason for you not to get your drivers liscense just because you are afraid of a low blood sugar or some sort of complication.
Over the past nine monthes that I have had my liscense I have only went low twice while behind the wheel. I'm lucky because I can feel when my blood sugars rise or fall, so I was fully aware when it was dropping. Thankfully, I was with my best friend both times and we were able to pull over and correct my blood sugar before I resumed driving. If you don't already wear a medical alert identification, then I advise you do while driving. If your blood sugar is off and you are driving funny, it will seem as if you are driving while intoxicated. When the cop pulls you over they will be able to help you instead of arresting you or make it worse by not letting you take care of the problem.
I always make sure there are low supplies and extra diabetes supplies stored in my glove box, in case of emergency. By being prepared you will hopefully never need it; it always seems like when you don't have what you need something bad happens. So if prepared with all that would be needed, driving is a breeze.

Shelby! Thanks for the post on driving - it's a big issue. Fortunately, you and I can feel the effects, but I don't know what I'd do if I was like some who don't have strong symptoms of hypoglycemia anymore, you know?
When I go low while I driving I notice that I just can't keep my eyes on the road, do you have a specific symptom when youre driving?
