Wow it has been a long time since I have posted on here!! Okay where to start....
Senior year. So much has changed and progressed this year that I'm still having trouble keeping up with it all. My dancing has expanded and exceeded heights, which has suprised me beyond belief. I've learned that having people enter and leave your life is something that is always going to happen whether we like it or not. Diabetes. Is. Finally. Good. :)
It has been a very challenging two years since my trouble with DKA. I never thought I would get through it and come out on top. But I finally have. I am now on the Apidra insulin, which has done wonders for my body. After everything that I went through and all the complications I suffered through, it ended up being the insulin I was injecting into my body that I was allergic to. I have always been allergic to "fake" jewelry and metal; they would give me a rash when I wore them. After all this time it has become a fact that I was allergic to the metals used in the insulin. Who would have guessed?
It took my body about four months to wash out all the metals in my body out. In the time span of two weeks my blood sugars were dropping fast and very frequently. Four lows in one night was something new that I was experiencing. So my endo doctor decreased my basal rates and cut my meal doses to half of what I was giving. Wow did it make a difference.
It has been a long time since my diabetes has been good enough to where I could focus on life a little more, and not overly worry about how I was feeling and what was happening to me. I have never experienced a happier and healthier year of school. My attendance has gone up as well as my grades. It's a wonderful feeling to have things finally going the way I want them to. :)
Next chapter? College.... that's another adventure I entend on conquering!

Hey! Nice to hear from ya! Thanks for posting on this issue of fake insulins and insulin allergies because there are probably quite a few people struggling to figure out what's going on with their insulin and that could be their conclusion, too.
Good luck with the beginning of your final high school semester!
Any ideas on what colleges or majors you're interested in?
