About Me

My name is Shelby! I'm 17 years old and I live in St. Louis, MO. I have had type 1 Diabetes for 10 years. Being a junior in high school has my schedule packed to the max, but I still have time to take care of my diabetes as well as do things I love. If I'm not at school, doing homework, hanging with friends and family, or taking care of my diabetes, you can find me in a dance studio! Dancing is my ultimate love in life! I take classes locally and nationally; competing a solo and learning from the best choreographers around. I'm competely addicted to Diet Coke and I have this problem that my friends like to call "sarcastic word barf"; it's where I just can't help what comes out of my mouth sometimes! (I do have to admit it's pretty funny though!) At times I absolutely despise my diabetes, but then I always remind myself that God gave me it for a reason and I should embrace it. I havn't figured out that one reason yet, but I do everything I can to take care of myself, help others, raise money for a cure, and spread awareness of our disease. I'm very outgoing and love talking and meeting new people, so don't hesitate saying hi! : )
