My daughter has the glucose sensor. We love it! It certainly helps to keep your blood glucose in control. The down side of it is that is another device to wear. My daughter wears it for the 3 days, we chart her trends, make corrections and then she takes a break for a few days. I say it is definitely worth the trouble though.
I have the Dexcom CGM. It is definitely very cool, and you should try to get a hold of one just to try it, but it's not going to change things very much. At least, that's been the case for me. I have had the device for almost six months now and I have only worn it for about 5-6 weeks out of that time. When I have it on, it's nice knowing what direction my blood sugar is headed, and getting alerts and such, but once a session is over it takes a while for me to put it back on again. Calibrating the sensor and getting the kinks out of it takes some work. In fact, my mom has been bugging me for the past few days to put it on, and I keep meaning to, but I haven't gotten around to it yet!
Hey Skyler,
I've never tried the CGMS! I would definitely love to though, because the amount of information it would provide would be so useful! To know how quickly after a meal my blood sugar spikes or what's happening with my blood sugar during exercise -- this is valuable information, you know?!
So, I can't offer any wisdom from experience of having one, but I definitely think anyone who can get their hands on one should make the most of the opportunity! Good for you for giving it a try!
