As any pumper will tell you, pumps and dresses don't exactly mix very well. So what is a girl to do? Well, she could go to prom in a pant suit… or you know, not (where's the fun in that?!?). While pumps are hard to wear in a dress, it is definitely possible. If the dress permits, stuffing it into a bra will generally get the job done (I do this a lot), or if the pump has a clip, clipping it to the back of the dress works as well, but again, only if the dress style works well with this approach. Ginger has mentioned that she actually went off her pump for the night and took a shot of long-acting insulin instead that day. That is definitely something you'd have to talk to your doctor about, and you'd need to be willing to take injections during the night of short-acting to get your boluses in. Plus, you'd have to check your blood sugar pretty often to make sure the changes are okay. Another fix, though, is find a good accessory for your pump. You can call your pump provider, or check out these websites for various accessories: https://estore.animascorp.com/ProductCatalog.aspx?topcategoryid=5&subcategoryid=14 Dress shopping is such a hassle when you have to consider your pump, and where it is going to fit. But in quoting my favorite T.V. guru Tim Gunn, "Make it work!" and really that's all you can do. So go forth, be fruitful, and find a "pump-accommodating" prom dress!
