We've all been there. We all know what it's like. Letting your diabetes slip right through your fingers, and everything gets off track. It's easy to let happen, (trust me i know that!) and it can be difficult to get it back on track. However, everyone around you (including us here on diabeteens) are here to help you through this!
Firstly I would like to start off by saying that I am currently in my own little slump, I've let myself get the best of me, and well poof! My control went right out the window! But I am doing a few things to get back on track.
1. I'm writing down every blood sugar, meal, bolus, and exercise.
2. I'm checking my blood sugars more frequently (every three hours, when I get up, before I go to bed, and 2-3 hours after I eat (to make sure my dosages are correct still) and I'm trying to eat healthier and be more active.)
3. I'm not lying to myself, or others anymore. I had this habit of making up excuses and saying things to myself and others about why my sugar was high, or why I wasn't checking. THIS IS REALLY BAD! Try as hard as you possibly can to refrain from doing this! It only makes it harder to recover from your control issue. It's best to come clean, and let your parents, or your doctor help you fix the issue before you run into some serious health issues.
I hope this helps all of you out there!
Just remember to learn from your mistakes. They happen every once and a while to everyone. And, also, no one expects you to be the perfect diabetic (frankly no such person exists). So hop to it!
Go make yourself feel accomplished and get your diabetes back in control!
