Driving a car is a privilege, not a right. This applies to everyone and anyone who gets behind the wheel of a car, not just people with diabetes. Hi I'm Sarah and its actually really ironic that you would write this, because I actually just got my driver's permit a few days ago and had a ton of questions about driving with diabetes. I found this really helpful because I've been really nervous about driving in general, so diabetes on top of all the stresses of first time driving is alittle overwhelming! But thanks for the help :) Oh and another thing I was wondering if you could help me with: when I go to get my license, do I need any doctor's notes or stuff like that because of diabetes? I'm just curious becuase I wasn't sure if its considered a disability and requires special paperwork or something. Thank you!

Hey Sarah thanks for posting!
well in New York State, you don't need any paperwork or anything (unless you have a seizure behind the wheel or something utterly tragic like that) however if you live elsewhere the laws and pocedures may be different. Don't hesitate to call the DMV with any questions!
Skyler.
P.s.
sorry if that's not very helpful.
I like the next person is just as clueless about the secrets of the DMV.
Good luck!
& Safe driving!
