it's been a long time

By JennyO2216 Monday, April 25, 2011

Well it has been a long time since i've posted. I have now had diabetes for two years and one month. I've had the insulin pump for almost a year now. I really like it, for me it's a lot easier. With the pump a lot of bad things happen. i've had about three bent infusion sets so with that i got really high. With one of those bent sets i fainted. It was on new years eve. and i use to change the sets like at eight o clock and i didn't check at night. So i spent the night going high and when i woke up i had a really bad stomach ache and i go check my blood sugar and before i could check i fainted. i got really scared. So that day i spent getting blood sugar and ketones down. it wasnt so much fun.  I hope you guys are feeling good. HOPE U GUYS STAY HEALTHY.

What pump are you using?  I had a similar problem with my pump and I decided to switch back to MDI, but right before I did, I found an infusion set that uses a metal tip and it made a huge difference!!  If you are using a medtronic, the infusion set was called a sureT and you should talk to your doc or cde about it.  It might be the ticket for you!  Here's ablog I wrote giving the reasons I was taking a pump vacation.  Some of the comments may help you with dieas for strategy for yourself!
