honeymoon phase

What is the best way to extend the honeymoon phase in a teen with recently diagnosed type 1 diabetes? My son does not require any insulin at this point after previously been on 15 of lantus and about 8 units of novolog a day? His blood sugars are now normal and A1C is 7.5. How can we extend this phase as long as possible?

Forgetting to check my BS and take insulin....help?

Recently I've been forgetting to check my BS as often as I should be, or taking my insulin. Well, I haven't really been forgetting, I'm just being lazy. In all honesty, I think about taking my insulin, and checking my BS (I'm on a pump), but then I'm like, "nah, I don't really want to" or something like that? I need advice about keteoacids ASAP!!
