Mood Swings

I was diagnosed with type 1 about a year ago, over the last year I have said some very hurtful things, than shortly after I realize and feel bad about it. I know this is usually when my sugars are high. We recently broke up because of this. I know its really not me saying all these things. Is this normal, are my mood swings normal?
