Okay, yes, a binge even of healthy food is going to be more calories than your body needs at one time and a lot of it will be stored as fat. Even if it's all sweet potatos!   Giving up isn't a solution! You know that already :) I know. But if you were to give up, what's your option? You'd still feel miserable, your blood sugars will be out of whack and you'll be unhappy with your situation.   The solution is going to take time and it's going to be a process, but you've gotta be willing to accept that it's not a quick fix.   First off, crazy blood sugars, going up and down, will definitely increase your appetite, requring you to take more insulin to bring you down, and eating more food to bring you back up. Both of which will lead to weight gain.   What was your last A1C? If that's high, it's not surprising that losing weight is hard for you right now.   Better controlled blood sugars will be the first step.   Find a diabetes educator and let them help you! Getting control of your blood sugars takes time because you need to understand what your current insulin needs are. And these needs can change throughout your life all the time!   Can you talk to a your endocrinologist or a diabetes educator?   -Ginger
