Exersice instead of insulin?

Insulin causes me to gain weight like crazy.  Therefore, I want to know if it's possible to exercise in order to omit insulin but keep my sugar levels down. If so, how would I go about doing this? When is the best time to exercise.  Any other tips? Thank you!
