After checking out the ingredients in various burgers, like maltodextrin, unmodified corn starch and and evaporated cane juice, I decided to buy a container of tofu and some high protein beans and make those burgers myself.

good call about being wary of Chinese 'additives'- China is going through the 'wild west' phase of capitalism, where there is no regulation of manufacturing- one more reason to buy American :)
