AMERICAN COLLEGE OF DIABETES SPECIALISTSre: A CHRISTIAN EVANGELICAL ORGANIZATION, NOT A DIPLOMA MILL
Dr. Bill Quick
Monday, January 14, 2008 at 10:13 AMI have a suspicion that the above comment was not written by people
representing the American College of Diabetes Specialists.
First, there's nothing in the ACDS solicitation that I had received that in any way suggests that they are "A CHRISTIAN EVANGELICAL ORGANIZATION", as claimed here. I strongly suspect the author of the present comment never saw the solicitation, and is merely trying to cause anxiety.
Second, I doubt if any lawyer or physician wrote this in ALL CAPS.
Third, my statement that is presently challenged is
This concept fits precisely with a definition of a diploma mill: "an
organization that awards academic degrees and diplomas with
substandard or no academic study, and without recognition by official
accrediting bodies. These degrees are often awarded based on life
experience. "
I stand by my statement.
Finally, a major endocrinology organization, AACE, has also gone on
record against the ACDS/ABD, in a newsletter to their membership:
"You may have received solicitation from the American Board of
Diabetes. Please be aware that our inquiries indicate that the ABD
is not recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or by
any state medical board. Also, according to the Nevada Secretary of
State's Office, the corporate status of this entity defaulted in
December 2006. We have been unable to obtain any information
regarding the company or its principals. We suggest that you use
caution in considering any potential affiliation, and will advise you
of any additional information that becomes available."

I received the letter as well.
I am board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
You got a deal!
My letter requested $300.
This seems to have the same credibility as the Nigerian oil letter I received via email; it also has the same chance of getting my money.
