    I concur with your concern.  I would not care if this person was up-front and clear as to who they are and who they represent. But there is no good reason for the secrecy.

     

    I've noticed "allenxvr" on several different sites and also on usenet, on misc.health.diabetes and alt.support.diabetes. On usenet the person is more often canvassing for participants in studies. For example here is a recent post on alt.support.diabetes:

     

    Have you been recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes?

     

    and another on misc.health.diabetes:

     

    Study of Oral Insulin for Type 2 Diabetes Patients

     

    They have been using this pseudonym for quite a while and it is not just restricted to diabetes groups. The Google groups activity profile is here: allenxvr
