nice post- this clearly is a 'me-too' drug, but to me the irony is in the other qualification: does it work?- compared to insulin, followed by metformin and the SUs, the relative capacity to lower A1Cs for the synthetic incretins is low indeed- where is the cost benefit line of comparing new drug X with old treatments, which are proven more effective, cheaper, and safer (with many more years of patient administration under their belt)- in my opinion, the insulin mimetics clearly are NOT revolutionary new treatments, in terms of effects, and as such should be very carefully scrutinized before being released to the guinea pigs, i mean public.
