As most of you are probably aware by now, Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor has had diabetes since childhood. Ms. Sotomayor was born June 25, 1954, and was diagnosed at age 8 -- that would add up to around 47 years of living with diabetes.
Some pundits have been raising questions...

Thanks, as usual, for the post.....As an issue, it also seems beside the point when one looks at the range of serious health problems present in current and past Justices---from many kinds of cancer to obvious dementia!.....Be well.....Judith in Portland

this whole issue is nonsense- the legitimate critique of the supreme court justices is that they are too powerful- they are not elected, and cannot be removed- they retain their very powerful positions as long as they live!- so what i say is that it's better that the judges have chronic health conditions, as a natural buffer against protracted terms of justice adjudication
