Thank you for correcting the misinformation!  No wonder those of us with diabetes get angry when the group that is supposed to be championing our cause and serving our needs aids in putting out clearly information that is not accurate - how can we blame the Press and Media when the ADA is doing this to us.  Angry - yes!!!!

Dear Bill,

When our organizations go myth-busting, they need to have a much better grasp of the facts. Thank you for your careful analysis.

"A diagnosis of type 1 diabetes means you automatically need supplemental insulin by injection, pump, inhalation, or beta-cell transplant. Most other forms of diabetes can be reasonably well controlled without insulin for years, but sooner-or-later, insulin supplementation will be needed."

I don't believe that eventually supplementation will be needed.  Not in every case.  There have been people who get type 2, lose weight, begin exercising, change their diet, and save themselves from diabetes.  They end up dying in their 90's of other causes-blood sugar average in the 80-90 range.  This is important to admit.

I like everything else you have to say :)
