Dr. Bill Quick and his wife Steph are the authors of one of the Internet's oldest and most respected diabetes websites, the Diabetes Monitor (at http://www.diabetesmonitor.com), and he is the author and moderator at DiabetesDiscussions.com (http://www.diabetesdiscussions.com).
In 2005, he developed diabetes, and immediately started on a basal/bolus insulin program. He switched to an insulin pump in June, 2008.
Bill previously was in private practice at the Midwest Diabetes Care Center in Independence, Missouri. He has been a specialist in diabetes care and endocrinology for over 30 years. He is a nationally-known expert in diabetes education, and is a past president of the American Association of Diabetes Educators. He is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, and also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Endocrinology and Diabetes Care. His present "day job" is as Executive Medical Director for the Americas for the Endocrinology therapeutic area in the Medical & Scientific Affairs group at i3 Research, a major CRO, where he is involved with designing and managing diabetes and other endocrine trials.
He describes his hobbies as throwing frisbees for his two dogs, and driving in New Jersey traffic. And on summer weekends, he and Steph will frequently be found on their sailboat, daysailing in New York harbor.
