Why do I love Sugar-Free Je-ll-o? There’s no such thing as too much fat, too many carbs and too many calories in Sugar-Free Je-ll-o. However…when it comes to peanut butter and mashed potatoes and ice cream, you should be paying close attention.   And believe me, I turn a blind-eye...

Excellent advise, Ginger. Especially the paragraph :

"If it’s around a mealtime, treat the low with a glass of juice and wait 10 minutes before sitting down to dinner — don’t try to treat a low with part of your meal."

Your wonderful articles are an source of encouragement to all.

Yes Mam, portion control follows diet selection follows diabetics. It's so easy to rationalize, to try and compensate for poor eating habits by using more insulin. Eventually weight & lack of enough exercise become control factors. I found the extra poundage to appear "mysteriously" and It doesn't go away quickly.

Well, live & learn. I'm type 2 but my doctors believe I may be on my way toward type 1, and a pump would be the next step.

People have delusions of fast foods and inactivity not affecting their health. It won't happen to me. Tomorrow, not today, I'll cut back on meals & increase my activity

You have the misfortune to be bundled with diabetes while young. And type 1 meaning sink or swim. I'm 62 and still learning and I intend to have many more years. BTW, I like chocolate.

Wow---Thank you NcPops, that is a no-nonsense perspective on health and diet and exercise. Congrats for being able to see our detrimental behaviors for what they really are and learning to not make excuses for them anymore! Like the saying goes, you are what you eat, right? Your attitude supports the statement and we all need to learn and really accept that if we want to be healthy, look healthy and feel healthy, we've got to treat our bodies in a healthy manner! Makes perfect sense...

Best of luck to you! Thanks for writing.
