I have been on and off an Insulin Pump since 1981.  Back then they were bigger than a paperback book, and only had one basal rate.

 

The pump is a wonderful thing, but like you, it is turning out to not be a solution for me.  I have problems with my skin and sub-cutaneous tissue cloging the catheter.  I have tried every one on the market.

 

The only times I have been in DKA has been when the pump or the infusion set malfunctioned.

 

I have decided on trying Lantus and Humalog for a while to see if that works.  My A1c's are higher off the pump, but I'm still working on it.

 

Perhaps when Insurance covers the Glucose Sensors, I'll go back on a pump.

have you heard of the Omnipod?  what are your thoughts on this?
