No insulin? Scary.

Since I was released from hospital about a month ago, I've had a mid-morning low.  The numbers vary, but I've had one every single day at between 10 and 11am, although it varies depending on when I eat breakfast and take my insulin.  The doc has reduced my insulin a couple of times to try to stop it (this tactic succeeded with the afternoon and evening lows), but even though the dosage has been cut from 28 units in the morning and 14 units in the evening to 12 units in the morning only, I'm still having this low.  I phoned the doc about it again yesterday, and he told me to stop the insulin for a couple of days and see what happens.  I'm scared and confused - does this mean I have Type 2 and not Type 1?  And how do I know when it's getting dangerous and I should start the insulin again?  The "best" part of this whole deal is that my doc is going away for 3 weeks, and I won't be able to contact him during this time!!!  Eish.
