have spouse with type 1 diabeaties. the question is that in canada they were useing pig beta cells for implants so that the human pancrease would regenerate insulin is this still being done and where would we go to volunteer as test subject. thank you for your time and consideration.. spouse was born diabetic and was not diagnosed till the age of 20 and can infact lapsed into a coma with sugars at 1600.is in fact a brittle diabetic and sugars now are maintained at 200 and is requested to keep a weight of 210 because of high metabolisum and low body fat. a response would be greatly apreciated.

You say that beta cells regnerate at a rate of 20 percent per year, does this included any beta cells that may have died? Do they regenerate?
