You can be and probably are a mentor about something or other. You can be a mentor about diabetes too. Mentoring is the informal way of helping other people. At work we have formal relationships of bosses and subordinates. The guidance that we give and receive up and down the heirarchy there...

For people like you and me, living in a small town, the way to go is virtual mentoring. I mean by that mentoring people with problems that you know how to deal with that you come into contact with on the Internet. The best way that I know is through forums or discussion groups of people with similar interests -- and answering their emails. That's what I try to do for people with diabetes.
