In 1961 I started to read The New York Times when I went to work in Washington. But its magazine always disappointed me.
Until Sunday. This week’s issue focuses on “Health and Wellness 2011.” All four of the magazine’s main articles are essential reading for everyone.

for the references, David! I just got Taubes' Good Calories Bad Calories, (but need to start reading it). However, I need to acknowledge YOU as one of the people who finally convinced me to at least limit carbs, and it has made a tremendous difference. My diabetes is not going to go away, but I manage to stay under 140 almost all the time, and my blood lipids are the best ever. I know a lot of professionals are still skeptical of low-carb, because they are bound by what they already think they know (and because there have not been enough long-term studies on it), but I think I'll go with success! :-)
Yesterday I dashed off to work and did not realize until I returned in the evening that I had forgotten all my vitamins and meds. I took my Victoza and got a phone call and went looking for some required papers. Eventually I went to bed and woke up at 2AM and realized that I still had not taken my metformin or usual slug of vitamins. My BG at that time was 133 - high for me but not as high as I would have expected. I took my evening dose of pills and this morning I was at 86.
The thing is, I had very few carbs all day yesterday. I was not really dietimg just low carbing. I walked up hill picking up trash both days. So the result was interesting.
All the links you provided were a good review - Thanks - I needed that.
