Excellent review! I always use Consumers Report whenever I am thinking of buying a big ticket item be it a car or a can opener so I read your review with pleasure. I thank you so much for this because it will help the diabetics narrow down their choice of glucose meter.

In case you use any of the Lifescan One Touch test machines (Ultra, Mini, Smart) you know the retail price of 100 test strips has risen to $119.00. But you should be aware that these test strips are widely available on eBay at prices that are less than 1/2 retail. I commonly pay rates very close to .50 per strip on eBay, including shipping, but oftentimes the shipping is free. Makes a huge difference over a year's time period.
Unfortunately they didn't test Walmart's new "Relion Prime" meter. Strips are only $9 for 50 ($0.18 each). I've been using it and it seems to work ok, but it would be nice to have a comparitive evaluation.
Dear Stephen,
Yes, they did leave out a lot of meters. That's another problem with the CR article.
Namaste,
David
